Make a private enquiryThe country dance tradition.
There are two distinct traditions of Scottish dance music, and they are not interchangeable. The Ceilidh belongs to the public hall, the fundraising night, the school gym. The country dance belongs to the estate, the private ball, the house party where the guests have known each other since childhood. The dances are different. The dances have names.
Hamilton House. The Duke of Perth. The Foursome Reel. The Eightsome Reel. These are dances with fixed lengths, fixed formations, and a cultural weight that the Ceilidh tradition does not attempt to carry. They are not taught in the same schools. They are not danced in the same rooms.
The Reeling Band plays this tradition with the seriousness it requires and the swing it deserves.

The sound of the tradition.
At the core of the Band is a trio: Fiddle, Guitar, and Bass. The sound is string-based and swinging, with the driving implied percussion of the pre-war Jazz tradition. The rhythm is present without requiring a drum kit to announce it.
For occasions that call for a fuller sound, the lineup extends to four or five players. Every arrangement is built for dancing first. The sets are played to the length the dance requires, not to the mood of the room.
